IN THE NEWS: Fourth-graders in San Diego will soon resume their once
annual trek to Old Town. Local businesses have rallied to revive the
popular public school program, which was shared by generations of San
Diegans until it recently fell victim to budget cuts.
Under a new
partnership with the San Diego Unified School District, the Old Town
Chamber of Commerce will hold a golf tournament every March to raise
money for the transportation costs — about $3 per student, or $36,000 in
