Board honors spring athletes tops in sports and class

The San Diego County All Academic Teams for the Spring sports have been honored by the Board of Education.

San Diego Unified teams that earned All Academic Team honors for winter sports are: La Jolla High School, Girls Basketball, Katherine Harmeyer, Cymer Scholar; Point Loma High School, Boys Wrestling, Anthony Farris, Cymer Scholar; San Diego High School, Girls Wrestling, Heaven Tamayo, Cymer Scholar.

"This is evidence that we are educating the whole child and the whole young person," said Dr. John Lee Evans, President of the Board of Education.

The All Academic Team honors a team in each sport, in each region, that has the highest average, unweighted team GPA among all teams in that sport and region. Mission Federal Credit Union partners with the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and Cymer, and sponsors the All Academic Team Recognition. In addition, with the support of Cymer, we are honoring the junior or senior student, from each of those teams, with the highest, cumulative GPA. These students are being recognized as Cymer Scholars.
