Theater Arts Students on Stage with Sacramento

Their passion and talent for theater arts sent six district students to the state capitol March 16. Last week, three students from Valencia Park Center for Academics, Drama and Dance, two students from Scripps Ranch High and one student from Henry High flew to Sacramento to participate in the 12th annual California Youth in Theatre Day.

While in Sacramento, the students met with Sen. Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego) and Assemblyman Marty Block (D-San Diego) to thank the legislators for supporting theatre in education and to explain why it really mattered to students like them to keep the arts alive in schools. For more information, please contact Valencia Park Principal Penny Simmons at (619) 264-0125 or psimmons@sandi.net.
