Prop S Update: Hoover Students Take Hard-Hat Tour

On April 8, approximately 15 students from the ACE (Architecture/Construction/Engineering) Mentor Program at Hoover High School toured a two-story, 30,284 square foot permanent classroom building that is currently under construction. The construction project is funded by local Proposition S funds and matching state funds from an Overcrowded Relief Grant. This classroom project represents an investment of more than $5.5 million into Hoover High School and the Mid-City community.

The mission of the ACE program is to enlighten and increase high school students’ awareness of career opportunities in architecture, construction and engineering and related areas of the design and construction industry through mentoring; and to provide scholarship opportunities for students in an inclusive manner reflective of the diverse school population.
