Free Lunches for Kids Available at Four Year-Round Schools During Intersession

Students in areas with year-round schools can enjoy free lunch during winter break, thanks to San Diego Unified Food Services, the district's Children and Youth in Transition Department, the City of San Diego San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation and Feeding America San Diego.

Free lunches are available Jan. 3-14 to all children ages 2-18 -- no enrollment, no paperwork, no income qualifications.

The lunches are available at the following locations:

In addition, there will be two special barbecues during the winter intersession.The events will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City Heights Recreation Center, 4380 Landis St, San Diego (92105) on Thursday, Jan. 6, and at Paradise Hills Recreation Center, 6610 Potomac St., San Diego (92139) on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

There's a free lunch for children 18 years and younger served from noon to 1 p.m. Adults can eat for $2. In addition, Feeding America San Diego will distribute free bags of food while other community partners offer information on a variety of social service programs. Read more»
