International biopharmaceutical company Celgene Corporation teamed up with students from SciTech School at San Diego High to benefit science students all over San Diego County.With the donation of $5,000 and the skill of the SciTech students, more than 300 transformation and protein purification lab kits were produced by the students during the school year. They'll be used by more than 9,000 students county-wide in the 2011-12 school year.
All aspects of kit production were managed by the students, from culturing bacteria to distribution -- managing teacher requests over a secure online ordering system.
