While National School Nurse Day is Wednesday, May 11, the considerable contributions by our school nurses to San Diego Unified students and staff make every day a School Nurse Day in our district.
Our nurses help students when they become sick at school, administer medications to those who must take it during the school day and talk with parents and students about health issues. School nurses are also on the front line with county health officers when reportable diseases are found, such as tuberculosis and pertussis.
For more information on school nurses, contact Jennifer Gorman, Director, Nursing and Wellness, at jgorman@sandi.net (858) 627- 7580.
