Alcott Students Jump for Fitness, World Record
Alcott Elementary, along with seven other San Diego Unified schools, recently participated in the Jamba Jump for the Record event. The event was held at more than 2,000 sites throughout California and was an attempt to have the most people -- 80,000 -- jumping at one time and to overtake the Guinness World Record set in Australia with 59,000 simultaneous jumpers. Alcott students joined in to help break the record, jumping for 10 minutes straight. The Jamba Jump for the Record was coordinated by the California Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation & Dance (CAHPERD) and Jamba Juice, Inc., in partnership with the American Heart Association and its Jump Rope for Heart program. For more information, please contact Julie James, Alcott Elementary, at (858) 273-3415 ext.114.
