Challenger Student Wins Top Award
For the past two years, students from Challenger Middle School have been attending the Young Women’s Leadership Conference sponsored by the Jenna Druck Foundation. As a result, eighth-grader Sara L. Gonzalez was invited to apply for the 2009 David & Orly Perez “Spirit of Leadership” Scholarship. At this year’s conference, Sara learned that she was the recipient of the $2,000 scholarship for her essay “The Journey of the Gem,” which documented how she utilized the leadership training to tackle challenges and demonstrated leadership in real-life situations.
