Conservation Grant Goes to Millennial Tech Middle School

Millennial Tech Middle (MTM) School was granted $2,000 by the San Diego Foundation to further its conservation science efforts in conjunction with an ongoing partnership with Groundwork San Diego-Chollas Creek . With the funding, MTM students will be improving habitat at their school and throughout the community. The money will be used to buy tongs, small shovels, one-gallon pots and materials for collecting data. These tools will allow the sixth- and seventh-graders to plant Chaparral prickly pear cactus, which provide potential nesting areas for the cactus wren. The students will be responsible for plantings at their on-campus Earth Lab, as well as for distribution of the plants to community members. For more information, please contact Vice Principal Heather Potter at (619) 527-6933 or hpotter@sandi.net .
