Claudia Dunaway, lead speech-language pathologist, is the winner of this year’s Monty, the top honor bestowed upon graduates of San Diego State University. Dunaway is one of 12 distinguished graduates chosen by the Aztec Alumni Association to have made significant contributions regionally, nationally and internationally. They will be honored at a gala event at the Hotel del Coronado on April 24. Among her innovations for district students with communication challenges include using team collaborations with students with autism, and using language samples to determine needs and services for students. Claudia also provides professional development for both general and special education teachers in how to build language and literacy skills in students of all ages.
