Lincoln Basketball to Cap an Amazing Seasonby Mark McCannMarch 25, 2010 There’s a buzz spreading around the San Diego athletics community. The Lincoln high school boys basketball team completed its regular season going 12-0 in the Western league, and had an overall record of 21-2, heading into its post season on a 16 game winning streak. Lincoln continued its winning ways through the San Diego sectional bracket to the finals where it beat reigning champion Hoover. Advancing through the Southern California regional bracket, the Hornets kept won their way to the championship game where they beat Compton High. Led by junior shooting guard Norman Powell -- averaging 20 points per game - and senior Victor Dean – averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds -- Lincoln has advanced to the California division II state championship game. With an opportunity to be the first San Diego team to win a division II state championship, Lincoln will face the Northern California regional champion St. Francis from Mountain View.
