Big things are happening in the galaxy of Johnson Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Magnet School.
In February, students presented their scientific explorations in a national videoconference with other schools deemed rigorous enough to earn the NASA Explorer School distinction, as Johnson has. The educational event was also competitive, with the winners earning a free trip to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Last year, Johnson students won a trip to Johnson Space Center.
The school’s program has become so widely respected that a team of instructors from another science magnet school, Campostella Elementary in Norfolk, Va., recently paid a visit to Johnson.
