Tenth grade students at Kearny's School of Digital Media and Design concluded their fall project, "Crime Time", with an awards ceremony hosted by Time Warner Cable. The students created an interdisciplinary project focused on the principles and applications of forensics.
Collaborating in teams, the students constructed engaging and educational websites to be used in 7th grade Life Science classrooms. In addition to Time Warner Cable, Montgomery Middle School, Taft Middle School, Grossmont College's Administration of Justice program, a local medical examiner, The Innocence Project, and several law enforcement officials participated in the project.
Time Warner Cable announced that the top three student groups will be showcased nationally in Time Warner Cable's Connect a Million Minds initiative, a philanthropic endeavor that models interdisciplinary use of math, science, and technology in after school programs across the country.
