CHAMPs Students Inspired by Disabled Athletes Advocate

Emmanuel Ofuso Yeboah, the physically challenged athlete from Ghana who rode 380 kilometers across his country to raise awareness and change perceptions of the disabled, visited with students at the Crawford High’s CHAMPS New Arrival Center on March 25. Yeboa, who has only one leg, showed his award-winning documentary (narrated by Oprah Winfrey). The students were inspired by his courage and determination to change perceptions about the disabled not just in his country, but around the world. Crawford students, who hail from nations such as Liberia, Burundi, Somalia, Uzbekistan, Mexico and Burma, utilized their developing English skills to ask Emmanuel questions about his experiences.
