SD High, Serra and Henry Top Cadet Challenge

More than 130 students from the 13 JROTC programs in San Diego Unified recently competed in the annual JROTC Cadet Challenge Physical Fitness Competition. San Diego High, Serra and Patrick Henry high schools placed first, second and third respectively in the competition. The annual competition tests the physical fitness of five boys and five girls from each school's program in events that included push-ups, curl-ups, basketball throw and a 5x400 relay race. The competition follows the format similar to the Service Academy Fitness Assessment test and evaluates one’s physical strength, endurance and fitness levels. Physical fitness is a major part of the JROTC program, helping cadets to live a healthy lifestyle.
